Offering counseling and crisis work to children, teens, and young adults
At various critical junctures in our lives, we could all use support and guidance. At FamilyWorks, we offer the highest level of attentive care—a licensed therapist will assist you, or your child, to navigate challenging life circumstances in a safe, confidential atmosphere.
Individual Therapy
At FamilyWorks, we know that young children are not just small adults. They have a special way of looking at the world and are concrete-thinkers. As their young brains develop socially, emotionally, and cognitively, therapy can take many forms. Counseling children might involve play therapy, art therapy, talk therapy, skill-building exercises, psycho-education, role-playing, and developing a vocabulary of affective words to help them understand and learn to express emotional nuance.

What we do
Family Therapy
Family dynamics have a monumental impact on who we are now and who we shall become over time. Many of our habits, behaviors, and communications are shaped from the experiences we have acquired from maladaptive patterns within our family. Family systems work illuminates new, healthier ways to communicate and interact to establish a more positive, productive, and rewarding home-life.

Crisis Intervention
“Our family began working with Sue to help better manage our son’s impulse control and frustration tolerance. As she began to meet with our son, we quickly noticed a difference in his behavior.”
Her knowledge, patience, and calm demeanor immediately put us all to ease and she built an important environment of trust / comfort for our son. Sue employs a wide range of parenting techniques and offers a variety of academic suggestions which are the perfect complement for our “at home” work. Her dedication and caring nature are so appreciated; we are thrilled about the incredibly quick turnaround with our son.

“Throughout our years together, Sue has been able to both ground me during times of personal chaos, and lift me up to reach my highest potential in my education, career, relationships, and overall well-being. Sue is more than a therapist; she is a role-model in many ways, and I am indebted to her for the space and time she has offered and continues to share with me."
